How to configure Centurylink for your Android Phone

With this post we will try to summarize configuring Centurylink with IMAP and SMTP for your Android Device in a straightforward language!

Setting up Centurylink:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming E-mail Server Setup

  1. Choose the type of e-mail account (either POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Not all services support both options. Please see the information below for available protocols.
    • IMAP stores the e-mails on the server but it will keep a copy on your Android device. IMAP is the recommended setting in most cases.
    • POP3 downloads the mails from the server and it will store them on your Android device.
  2. Type the password for your mail account and click Next.
  3. Refer to the following information in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click the Edit Settings button.

Outgoing Mail Configuration (via SMTP)

  1. After you type in the parameters, you can tap Next.
  2. Enable Require sign-in
  3. Please see the following table in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If there is an error, click the Edit Settings button.
