Setting up Comcast.net
Mail can find the e-mail settings itself, and set up your account. Apply these steps first to try:
- Open Settings, then Mail and tap Accounts
- Tap Add Account > Other, then tap Add Mail Account
- Enter your name (can be any name), email address, password then a description for your account.
- Click Next. Mail should now try and find the email parameters and complete setting your account. If Mail finds the email configuration, click Done to finish your setup.
If the Mail app couldn't automatically set up your account, it means that you will need to enter them manually. I think you will find the table below useful:
Outgoing E-mail Server Settings (using SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtp.comcast.net |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Configuration Needed for Receiving Email via IMAP
Server Hostname | imap.comcast.net |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Choose IMAP or POP. If you don't know which one to select, contact Comcast.net.
- Type in the required information (You will want to take a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next.
- If the mail settings are correct, tap Save to complete the setup. If your email settings are incorrect, you'll be asked to edit them
- In case you still aren't able to set up your email account or save the email settings, contact your email provider.
