How to configure Hotmail.it for an iPad/iPhone

First, a few words about Hotmail.it

Outlook.com is a personal information manager web app from Microsoft consisting of webmail, calendaring, contacts, and tasks services. Founded in 1996 by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith as Hotmail, it was acquired by Microsoft in 1997 for an estimated $400 million and relaunched as MSN Hotmail, later rebranded to Windows Live Hotmail as part of the Windows Live suite of products. Setting up Hotmail.it

It is possible that Mail will find your configuration itself and set up your account. Apply the following steps first to find out if it will:

1. Go to Settings > Mail then click Accounts
2. Click Add Account > Other then tap Add Mail Account
3. Type your name (can be any name), email address, password and a description for your account
4. Tap Next. The Mail app should now try to find the email configuration and set up your account. If Mail finds your email settings, tap Done to complete your account setup.

In case the Mail app can't automatically set up your account, it means that you need to enter them manually. I think you may find the table below useful:

Tap Next, then follow these steps:

1. Select IMAP or POP for your new account If you are not certain which one to opt for, contact Hotmail.it
2. Type in the required information (You might want to refer to the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next
3. If the e-mail settings are correct, tap Save to complete . If the mail settings are incorrect, the app will ask you to modify the configuration.
4. In case you still are not able to configure the e-mail account, or save the settings, contact Hotmail.it.
