Configuring mailforce.net for your iPad/iPhone
With this article I will teach you how to set up mailforce.net using IMAP and SMTP in an easy to follow fashion...
First, a few words about mailforce.net:
Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Setting up mailforce.net:
It is possible that the Mail app will find your e-mail configuration automatically, and complete setting up your account. Follow these steps to try:
- Go to Settings > Mail, and click Accounts
- Click Add Account > Other, then tap Add Mail Account
- Enter your name (can be any name), email address, password with a description for account.
- Tap Next. The Mail app will now try and find the mail settings and finish your account setup. If Mail finds your email parameter, tap Done to complete your account setup.
In case Mail couldn't find your e-mail configuration, it means that you have to enter them manually. I think you may need the following information:
Incoming E-mail (IMAP) Settings
Server Hostname | imap.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Settings Needed for Sending Mail (via SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtp.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Select either IMAP or POP If you don't know which one to opt for, contact mailforce.net.
- Type in the required information (You will want to take a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next
- If the mail configuration is correct, tap Save to finish . If the mail settings are incorrect, you will be asked to modify them.
- In case you still are not able to set up the account or save your e-mail settings, contact mailforce.net.
