Configuring myfastmail.com for your iPad/iPhone
With this article I will simply demonstrate how to set up myfastmail.com using IMAP and SMTP in a simple way...
What is myfastmail.com:
Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. How to setup myfastmail.com:
It is possible that the Mail app will find your email configuration itself, then complete setting up your account. Apply these steps first in order to see if that is possible:
- Go to Settings > Mail, and click Accounts.
- Click Add Account, then Other then click Add Mail Account
- Type your name (can be any name), your email address, your password then a description for account.
- Click Next. The Mail app should try to find the email parameters and complete your account setup. If the Mail app finds your email parameter, tap Done to finish your account setup.
In case Mail didn't automatically set up your account, it means that you have to enter them yourself. We think you may find the following table useful:
Setup Needed for Receiving E-mail using IMAP
Server Hostname | imap.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |

Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Select either IMAP or POP If you don't know which one to opt for, contact myfastmail.com
- Type in the information (You might want to have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then tap Next.
- If your e-mail settings are correct, click Save to complete . If your mail configuration is incorrect, you'll be asked to edit the configuration
- In case you still can't set up the email account, or store your e-mail settings, contact the provider.
