How to configure Us.army.mil for your Samsung Galaxy (Android)

With this article I will simply summarize how to setup Us.army.mil using IMAP and SMTP for an Android Tablet in a simple fashion.

How to setup Us.army.mil:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Configuration Required for Receiving E-mail

  1. Choose the type of mail account (POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Not all services provide both! You may want to check out the information below for the correct parameters.
    • IMAP protocol will store the emails on the server, but it will show a cached copy on your device. IMAP is recommended in almost all cases.
    • POP3 downloads the emails from the remote server and it will keep them on your Android device.
  2. Type in the password for the e-mail account and tap Next.
  3. Please refer to the table below to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Click Next. If there is an error, tap the Edit Settings button.

Settings Required for Sending E-mail

  1. After you type in the parameters, tap Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Refer to the information below in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If there is an error, click Edit Settings.
