Setting up Worldnet.att.net for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)

In this blog I will try to summarize how to configure Worldnet.att.net using IMAP and SMTP for a Samsung Galaxy (Android) in an easy to follow fashion.

Configuring Worldnet.att.net

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Configuration Needed for Receiving Mail

  1. Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Not all services provide both! You may want to check out the information below for the correct parameters.
    • IMAP protocol will keep the e-mails on the server, and it will show a cached copy on your Android phone. IMAP is recommended in most cases.
    • POP3 will download the emails from the remote server and it will store them on your Android device.
  2. Type in the passphrase for your email address and tap Next.
  3. Please see the following table to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
  4. Click Next. If there is an error, click the Edit Settings button.

Configuration Needed for Sending Email

  1. After you type in the configuration, you can click Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Use the information below to complete the Outgoing Server Settings settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If you see an error, tap Edit Settings.
