How to set up Yahoo.com.au for your iOS Device
In this article I will simply explain setting up Yahoo.com.au with IMAP and SMTP in a simple way.
History of Yahoo.com.au:
Yahoo! Mail is an email service launched on October 8, 1997, by the American company Yahoo, Inc. It offers four different email plans: three for personal use (Basic, Plus, and Ad Free) and another for businesses. As of January 2020, Yahoo! Mail has 225 million users. Users are able to access and manage their mailboxes using webmail interface, accessible using a standard web browser. Some accounts also supported the use of standard mail protocols (POP3 and SMTP). Since 2015, users can also connect non-Yahoo e-mail accounts to the webmail client. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo!_Mail
Configuring Yahoo.com.au:
Mail may find your parameters itself, then complete setting up your account. Apply the following steps first in order to find out if it can:
- Open Settings, then Mail, and click Accounts
- Tap Add Account > Other and click Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, your email address, password with a description for your account.
- Click Next. Mail should try to find the mail settings and complete setting your account. If the Mail app finds the e-mail parameter, click Done to finish your setup.
If Mail couldn't automatically set up your account, it means that you will need to enter them yourself. We think you may need the following information:
Incoming E-mail (IMAP) Configuration
Server Hostname | imap.mail.yahoo.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Outgoing E-mail Setup
Server Hostname | smtp.mail.yahoo.com |
Server Port | 465 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Choose either IMAP or POP If you don't know which one to select, contact Yahoo.com.au
- Type the details (You will have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next.
- If the email settings are correct, click Save to complete the setup. If the mail settings are incorrect, you'll be asked to edit those settings
- If you still aren't able to setup your account, or store the settings, contact the provider.
