Configuring 163.com for your Android Tablet

With this blog we will simply explain how to set up 163.com using IMAP and SMTP for your Android Phone in a simple language!

How to configure 163.com

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Setup Needed for Receiving E-mail

  1. Choose the type of email account (either POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Some services may not support both! Refer to the table below for possible protocols.
    • IMAP will keep the emails on the server, but it will display a copy on your device. IMAP is the recommended setting in most cases.
    • POP3 will download the e-mails from the remote server and it will store them on your Android device.
  2. Enter the passphrase for the mail address and tap Next.
  3. Please use the following information to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.

Settings Needed for Sending Mail

  1. Once the parameters are filled in, tap Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Please refer to the information below in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.
