Setting up None for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)

In this blog I will simply demonstrate how to configure None using SMTP and POP and IMAP for your Samsung Galaxy (Android) in a straightforward fashion.

Setting up None

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Settings Needed for Receiving Email

  1. Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Not all services provide both options! You may want to refer to the information below for possible settings.
    • IMAP protocol will store the mails on the server, and it will keep a cached copy on your Android device. IMAP is recommended in most cases.
    • POP3 will download the emails from the remote server and it will keep them on your Android phone.
  2. Type the passphrase for your mail address and tap Next.
  3. Use the information below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
  4. Now tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.

Configuration Needed for Receiving E-mail via POP

Configuration Needed for Receiving E-mail via IMAP

Server HostnameThe hostname given by your service provider (usually imap.None or mail.None)

Configuration Needed for Sending E-mail (using SMTP)

  1. After you type the configuration, you can click Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Please refer to the table below to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Click Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
Server HostnameThe hostname given by your service provider (usually smtp.None or mail.None)
Server PortUsually 25 or 587
