Setting up None for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)
In this blog I will simply demonstrate how to configure None using SMTP and POP and IMAP for your Samsung Galaxy (Android) in a straightforward fashion.

Setting up None
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
- In the top right, tap your profile picture.
- Tap Add another account.
- Choose the type of account you want to add:
- If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
- If you don't see your email service, select Other.
- Enter your email address and tap Next.
Settings Needed for Receiving Email
- Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Not all services provide both options! You may want to refer to the information below for possible settings.
- IMAP protocol will store the mails on the server, and it will keep a cached copy on your Android device. IMAP is recommended in most cases.
- POP3 will download the emails from the remote server and it will keep them on your Android phone.
- Type the passphrase for your mail address and tap Next.
- Use the information below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
- Now tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
Configuration Needed for Receiving E-mail via POP
Server Hostname | The hostname given by your service provider (usually pop.None or mail.None) |
Server Port | 110 |
Username | Your e-mail address (i.e. name@none) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Try Both |
Configuration Needed for Receiving E-mail via IMAP
Server Hostname | The hostname given by your service provider (usually imap.None or mail.None) |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your e-mail address (i.e. name@none) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Try Both |
Configuration Needed for Sending E-mail (using SMTP)
- After you type the configuration, you can click Next.
- Turn on Require sign-in
- Please refer to the table below to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
- Click Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
Server Hostname | The hostname given by your service provider (usually smtp.None or mail.None) |
Server Port | Usually 25 or 587 |
Username | Your e-mail address (i.e. name@none) |
