How to configure Wind for an Android Phone

With this article I will try to teach you setting up Wind using SMTP and POP and IMAP for an Android Phone in a simple fashion!

Setting up Wind:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming Email Setup

  1. Choose the type of mail account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Some services may not support both protocols! Refer to the table below for the correct parameters.
    • IMAP will keep the mails on the server and it will display a copy on your Android device. IMAP is recommended in most cases.
    • POP3 will download the e-mails from the remote server and it will store them on your device.
  2. Enter the password for the e-mail account and click Next.
  3. Refer to the table below to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Click Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.

Incoming E-mail Server (POP) Settings

Server HostnameThe hostname given by your service provider (usually pop.Wind or mail.Wind)
Server Port110
UsernameYour e-mail address (i.e. name@wind)
AuthenticationPassword
SSL/TLSTry Both

Incoming E-mail Server (IMAP) Settings

Server HostnameThe hostname given by your service provider (usually imap.Wind or mail.Wind)
Server Port993
UsernameYour e-mail address (i.e. name@wind)
AuthenticationPassword
SSL/TLSTry Both

Outgoing E-mail Server Settings (via SMTP)

  1. Once the settings are typed in, tap Next.
  2. Select Require sign-in
  3. Please refer to the following table to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Now tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
Server HostnameThe hostname given by your service provider (usually smtp.Wind or mail.Wind)
Server PortUsually 25 or 587
UsernameYour e-mail address (i.e. name@wind)
AuthenticationPassword
SSL/TLSTry Both
