Setting up Albany.edu for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)

Configuring Albany.edu

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
3. Tap Add another account.
4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
   • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
   • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Settings Needed for Receiving Mail

1. Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Not all services provide both! You may want to see the information below for possible protocols.
   • IMAP protocol will keep the emails on the server and it will display a copy on your Android device. IMAP is the recommended protocol for most users.
   • POP3 will download the emails from the remote server and it will store them on your Android device.
2. Enter the password for the email address and tap Next.
3. Use the information below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
4. Tap Next. If there is an error, tap the Edit Settings button.

Configuration Needed for Sending Email (using SMTP)

1. After you type the configuration, you can click Next.
2. Turn on Require sign-in
3. Please refer to the information below to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
4. Now click Next. If you see an error, tap the Edit Settings button.
