Configuring Albany.edu
It is possible that the Mail app will find the email parameters automatically, and set up your account. Apply these steps in order to see if that is possible:
- Open Settings, then Mail and tap Accounts.
- Tap Add Account, then Other, then tap Add Mail Account
- Enter your name, your email address, your password with a description for account.
- Click Next. The Mail app should try to find the email parameters and set up your account. If the Mail app finds the email configuration, click Done to finish your account setup.
If the Mail app couldn't automatically set up your account, then you will have to enter them manually. We think you will find the following table useful:
Configuration Needed for Receiving Email with IMAP
Server Hostname | imap.albany.edu |
Server Port | None |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | No |
Configuration Needed for Sending Email
Server Hostname | smtp.albany.edu |
Server Port | None |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | No |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Choose IMAP or POP. If you don't know which one to opt for, contact Albany.edu.
- Type in the required information (You will have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then tap Next
- If the email settings are correct, click Save to complete the setup. If your email settings are incorrect, you'll be asked to edit them
- If you still can't configure the e-mail account, or save the email settings, contact your email provider.
