Configuring Att.net for an Android Tablet

With this blog I will simply teach you configuring Att.net using IMAP and SMTP for your Samsung Galaxy (Android) in a straightforward way.

Configuring Att.net

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Setup Needed for Receiving Mail

  1. Choose the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Some services may not provide both options! Refer to the information below for available parameters.
    • IMAP stores the e-mails on the server and it will display a copy on your device. IMAP is recommended for most users.
    • POP3 will download the emails from the server and it will store them on your Android phone.
  2. Type the passphrase for your mail account and click Next.
  3. Please see the following table in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.

Settings Needed for Sending Email (using SMTP)

  1. After you enter the configuration, click Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Use the information below in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings.
  4. Now click Next. If you see an error, click the Edit Settings button.
