How to set up Bigpond.com for an Android Phone

In this blog I will try to teach you how to set up Bigpond.com with IMAP and SMTP for your Android Device in a straightforward language.

Configuring Bigpond.com

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming Email Setup

  1. Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Some services may not support both. Refer to the table below for available settings.
    • IMAP protocol keeps the e-mails on the server but it will show a copy on your device. IMAP is recommended in almost all cases.
    • POP3 downloads the mails from the remote server and it will keep them on your Android device.
  2. Type the password for your e-mail address and tap Next.
  3. Refer to the information below to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If you see an error, tap the Edit Settings button.

Outgoing E-mail Server Setup (via SMTP)

  1. Once the settings are entered, click Next.
  2. Select Require sign-in
  3. Please see the following information to complete the Outgoing Server Settings settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
