Setting up Bigpond.net.au

It is possible that the Mail app will find the email settings itself then set up your account. Apply these steps to find out if that will be possible:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail and tap Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account, click Other and tap Add Mail Account
  3. Type in your name (can be any name), email address, password and a description for account
  4. Click Next. The Mail app should now try to find the email settings and set up your account. If Mail finds the e-mail configuration, click Done to finish your setup.

In case the Mail app didn't find your email settings, then you need to enter them yourself. I think you may find the info below useful:

Settings Needed for Receiving E-mail with IMAP

Server Hostnameimap.telstra.com
Server Port993
UsernameYour username (do not include the part after the @ sign)
AuthenticationPassword
SSL/TLSYes

Settings Needed for Sending E-mail (using SMTP)

Server Hostnamesmtp.telstra.com
Server Port465
UsernameYour username (do not include the part after the @ sign)
AuthenticationPassword
SSL/TLSYes

Tap Next, then follow these steps:

  1. Select IMAP or POP. If you don't know which one to select, contact Bigpond.net.au
  2. Type the required information (You may want to refer to the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next
  3. If your email configuration is correct, click Save to complete the setup. If the email setup is incorrect, you'll be asked to modify the configuration.
  4. If you still aren't able to setup your email account or store the settings, contact your e-mail provider.
