How to set up Daum.net for an Android Phone

In this post I will simply summarize setting up Daum.net with IMAP and SMTP for a Samsung Galaxy (Android) in an easy to follow way!

Setting up Daum.net

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Configuration Needed for Receiving Email

  1. Select the type of e-mail account (POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Not all services support both protocols. Refer to the table below for possible protocols.
    • IMAP will keep the emails on the server and it will show a copy on your device. IMAP is recommended in most cases.
    • POP3 will download the mails from the remote server and it will keep them on your device.
  2. Type the passphrase for your email address and click Next.
  3. Please refer to the table below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
  4. Tap Next. If there is an error, click Edit Settings.

Outgoing Mail Settings (via SMTP)

  1. Once the settings are entered, tap Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Please see the following information to complete the Outgoing Server Settings settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, tap the Edit Settings button.
