Configuring f-m.fm for your iOS Device
With this post we will simply demonstrate how to set up f-m.fm using IMAP and SMTP in a straightforward way!
First, a few words about f-m.fm:
Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Configuring f-m.fm:
Mail app may find the e-mail parameters itself, then configure your account. Follow these steps first to find out if it can:
- Go to Settings > Mail, and tap Accounts
- Click Add Account, then Other, and tap Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, email address, your password with a description for account.
- Tap Next. The Mail app will try to find the email configuration and finish your account setup. If the Mail app finds your e-mail configuration, click Done to finish your account setup.
In case Mail couldn't find your email configuration, it means that you will need to enter them manually. I think you will need the information below:
Incoming E-mail Server (IMAP) Settings
Server Hostname | imap.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Outgoing Mail Configuration (via SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtp.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Select either IMAP or POP. If you don't know which one to opt for, contact f-m.fm.
- Enter the details (You will want to take a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next.
- If your mail setup is correct, click Save to finish . If the email setup is incorrect, the app will ask you to edit them
- If you still aren't able to setup the account, or save the e-mail settings, contact f-m.fm.
