Configuring fastmail.cn for an Android Tablet

With this article I will simply teach you how to setup fastmail.cn using IMAP and SMTP for your Samsung Galaxy (Android) in an easy to follow fashion.

First, a few words about fastmail.cn:

Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Configuring fastmail.cn:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming Mail Settings

  1. Choose the type of mail account (POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Some services may not support both options! Please see the table below for possible parameters.
    • IMAP will keep the e-mails on the server and it will show a copy on your Android device. IMAP is recommended in almost all cases.
    • POP3 will download the emails from the server and it will store them on your device.
  2. Type the password for the email account and tap Next.
  3. Please use the information below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Click Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.

Settings Required for Sending Email (via SMTP)

  1. After you enter the parameters, tap Next.
  2. Enable Require sign-in
  3. Please refer to the following information in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
