Setting up Gmx.net for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)

In this blog I will try to summarize setting up Gmx.net with IMAP and SMTP for your Android Tablet in an easy to follow fashion!

Configuring Gmx.net

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming E-mail Server Setup

  1. Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Not all services provide both. Please see the table below for the correct parameters.
    • IMAP protocol stores the e-mails on the server but it will keep a cached copy on your Android phone. IMAP is the recommended setting in most cases.
    • POP3 downloads the mails from the server and it will store them on your device.
  2. Enter the password for the e-mail address and click Next.
  3. Use the table below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Now click Next. If you see an error, click the Edit Settings button.

Outgoing Mail Server Configuration

  1. Once the settings are typed in, you can click Next.
  2. Select Require sign-in
  3. Please use the table below in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
