Configuring ml1.net for an iPad/iPhone
With this blog I will try to demonstrate how to configure ml1.net with IMAP and SMTP in a simple way.
First, a few words about ml1.net
Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Setting up ml1.net
It is possible that the Mail app will find the settings automatically, then complete setting up your account. Apply these steps first in order to see if that will be possible:
- Go to Settings > Mail and tap Accounts.
- Tap Add Account, then Other, and click Add Mail Account
- Enter your name (can be any name), your email address, your password with a description for account
- Click Next. The Mail app should now try and find the e-mail configuration and complete your account setup. If the Mail app finds the e-mail parameter, tap Done to finish your setup.
In case the Mail app couldn't automatically set up your account, then you will have to enter them yourself. We think you may find the following table useful:
Settings Needed for Receiving Email via IMAP
Server Hostname | imap.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Settings Needed for Sending Email (using SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtp.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Select IMAP or POP. If you don't know which one to opt for, contact ml1.net.
- Type the information (You will want to have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then tap Next
- If your email settings are correct, click Save to finish . If your mail settings are incorrect, you'll be asked to modify the configuration
- If you still are not able to setup your e-mail account, or save your e-mail settings, contact ml1.net.
