How to configure Orange.mu for an iPad/iPhone
With this post I will summarize how to configure Orange.mu using POP and SMTP in a simple fashion!
What is Orange.mu:
Orange, formerly France Télécom S.A., is a French multinational telecommunications corporation. It has 266 million customers worldwide and employs 89,000 people in France, and 59,000 elsewhere. It is the 11th largest mobile network operator in the world and the 4th largest in Europe after Vodafone, Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom. In 2015, the group had revenue of €40 billion. The company's head office is located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_S.A.
Setting up Orange.mu:
It is possible that Mail will find the email parameters automatically and configure your account. Follow these steps in order to see if it can:
- Go to Settings > Mail then tap Accounts.
- Tap Add Account, click Other, then tap Add Mail Account
- Enter your name (can be any name), your email address, password and a description for your account
- Tap Next. The Mail app will try and find the email configuration and set up your account. If Mail finds the email settings, click Done to complete your setup.
In case the Mail app hasn't been able to automatically set up your account, then you have to enter them manually. I think you may find the table below useful:
Setup Needed for Receiving E-mail via POP
Server Hostname | bow.intnet.mu |
Server Port | 110 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | NONE |
SSL/TLS | No |
Settings Needed for Sending E-mail (using SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtp.intnet.mu |
Server Port | 25 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | No |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Select IMAP or POP for your new account. If you don't know which one to select, contact Orange.mu.
- Enter the required details (You might want to have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then tap Next
- If your mail settings are correct, tap Save to complete the setup. If your email settings are incorrect, you will be asked to edit them
- In case you still are not able to set up your e-mail account or store the e-mail settings, contact the email provider.
