Configuring proinbox.com for your Android Phone

With this blog we will try to explain setting up proinbox.com using IMAP and SMTP for your Samsung Galaxy (Android) in a simple fashion.

What is proinbox.com:

Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Configuring proinbox.com:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming E-mail Server Configuration

  1. Choose the type of email account (either POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Some services may not support both options! Refer to the information below for possible parameters.
    • IMAP protocol stores the e-mails on the server and it will keep a copy on your Android phone. IMAP is the recommended protocol for almost all users.
    • POP3 downloads the e-mails from the server and it will store them on your Android device.
  2. Type the passphrase for the mail account and tap Next.
  3. Refer to the following table in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.

Outgoing Mail Setup

  1. Once the settings are typed in, you can tap Next.
  2. Select Require sign-in
  3. Please refer to the information below to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If you see an error, tap Edit Settings.
