How to set up sent.at for your Android Device

In this post we will summarize how to setup sent.at with IMAP and SMTP for an Android Phone in a simple fashion.

History of sent.at:

Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Setting up sent.at:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming E-mail Settings

  1. Select the type of e-mail account (either POP3 or IMAP) you will be using. Not all services support both. Refer to the information below for possible protocols.
    • IMAP protocol will keep the mails on the server, but it will show a copy on your Android phone. IMAP is the recommended protocol in most cases.
    • POP3 will download the mails from the remote server and it will store them on your Android device.
  2. Type in the passphrase for the mail account and click Next.
  3. Refer to the information below to complete the Incoming Server Settings settings.
  4. Now click Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.

Configuration Required for Sending E-mail (via SMTP)

  1. Once the parameters are entered, you can tap Next.
  2. Check Require sign-in
  3. Use the following information in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.
