How to configure Sympatico
It is possible that Mail will find the e-mail configuration automatically, and set up your account. Apply the following steps first to find out if that is possible:
- Go to Settings > Mail then tap Accounts
- Click Add Account > Other, then tap Add Mail Account
- Type your name (can be any name), email address, password and a description for your account
- Click Next. The Mail app will try and find the email configuration and complete your account setup. If the Mail app finds the e-mail configuration, click Done to complete your setup.
In case the Mail app can't find your e-mail settings, it means that you have to enter them manually. I think you will find the information below useful:
Settings Needed for Receiving E-mail via IMAP
Server Hostname | imap.bell.net |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Outgoing E-mail Server Setup (using SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtphm.sympatico.ca |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Select IMAP or POP for your new account. If you are not certain which one to choose, contact Sympatico.
- Type in the required information (You might want to refer to the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next
- If the email settings are correct, click Save to finish . If your email settings are incorrect, you will be asked to edit the configuration
- If you still can't set up your e-mail account or save your e-mail settings, contact the e-mail provider.
