How to set up Windowslive.com for an iOS Device
In this blog I will simply teach you setting up Windowslive.com with IMAP and SMTP in an easy to follow language...
Configuring Windowslive.com
It is possible that the Mail app will find your e-mail settings itself and configure your account. Apply the following steps in order to try:
- Open Settings, then Mail and click Accounts
- Tap Add Account, click Other then click Add Mail Account
- Type your name (can be any name), your email address, your password and a description for account.
- Tap Next. Mail will try to find the email parameters and finish setting your account. If the Mail app finds your email parameter, tap Done to finish your setup.
If the Mail app didn't automatically set up your account, then you need to enter them manually. You may find the following info useful:
Incoming E-mail (IMAP) Settings
Server Hostname | imap-mail.outlook.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |

Server Hostname | smtp-mail.outlook.com |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |

Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Choose IMAP or POP If you are not sure which one to select, contact Windowslive.com
- Type in the information (You might want to have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then tap Next
- If your mail settings are correct, tap Save to finish . If the email configuration is incorrect, you'll be asked to modify those settings.
- In case you still are not able to set up your email account, or store your settings, contact Windowslive.com.
