How to set up Yahoo.gr for an iPhone
In this post I will try to demonstrate configuring Yahoo.gr using IMAP and SMTP in a simple language...
What is Yahoo.gr
Yahoo! Mail is an email service launched on October 8, 1997, by the American company Yahoo, Inc. It offers four different email plans: three for personal use (Basic, Plus, and Ad Free) and another for businesses. As of January 2020, Yahoo! Mail has 225 million users. Users are able to access and manage their mailboxes using webmail interface, accessible using a standard web browser. Some accounts also supported the use of standard mail protocols (POP3 and SMTP). Since 2015, users can also connect non-Yahoo e-mail accounts to the webmail client. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo!_Mail
Setting up Yahoo.gr
It is possible that Mail will find the e-mail parameters automatically, then configure your account. Apply these steps to try:
- Open Settings, then Mail then tap Accounts
- Tap Add Account, then Other, and click Add Mail Account.
- Type your name, your email address, password with a description for account
- Tap Next. Mail should try and find the email settings and complete your account setup. If Mail finds your e-mail configuration, tap Done to complete your setup.
If the Mail app can't find your email configuration, then you will need to enter them yourself. I think you may need the information below:
Incoming E-mail Server (IMAP) Configuration
Server Hostname | imap.mail.yahoo.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Configuration Needed for Sending E-mail (via SMTP)
Server Hostname | smtp.mail.yahoo.com |
Server Port | 465 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Choose IMAP or POP for your new account. If you don't know which one to opt for, contact Yahoo.gr.
- Type the details (You might have a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then click Next
- If your mail setup is correct, click Save to complete . If your mail configuration is incorrect, you will be asked to modify those settings
- In case you still can't set up your e-mail account or store the email settings, contact Yahoo.gr.
