How to set up Hughes.net for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)

In this post I will try to explain how to setup Hughes.net using POP and SMTP for your Samsung Galaxy (Android) in an easy to follow language!

How to set up Hughes.net

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Settings Needed for Receiving E-mail

  1. Select the type of e-mail account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Some services may not provide both options! Please see the table below for available protocols.
    • IMAP will store the e-mails on the server, but it will display a cached copy on your device. IMAP is recommended for almost all users.
    • POP3 will download the mails from the remote server and it will store them on your Android phone.
  2. Enter the password for the e-mail account and click Next.
  3. Use the table below to complete the Incoming Server Settings settings.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, click Edit Settings.

  1. After you type the settings, click Next.
  2. Enable Require sign-in
  3. Please refer to the following table in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.
