Setting up Planet.nl for a Samsung Galaxy (Android)

In this blog I will try to summarize setting up Planet.nl using SMTP and POP for your Android Device in a straightforward language!

Configuring Planet.nl

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Configuration Needed for Receiving Mail

  1. Select the type of email account (POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Not all services support both! You may want to see the information below for the correct protocols.
    • IMAP stores the mails on the server and it will display a copy on your Android phone. IMAP is the recommended setting in most cases.
    • POP3 downloads the mails from the remote server and it will store them on your device.
  2. Type in the password for your email account and click Next.
  3. Please see the information below to complete the Incoming Server Settings settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If there is an error, click the Edit Settings button.

Outgoing E-mail Server Configuration

  1. Once the settings are entered, click Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Please use the table below in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If there is an error, click the Edit Settings button.
