How to set up sent.at for your iPad/iPhone
In this post we will summarize setting up sent.at with IMAP and SMTP in an easy to follow language...
History of sent.at:
Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Setting up sent.at:
It is possible that Mail will find your configuration automatically and complete setting up your account. Follow these steps in order to find out if it can:
- Open Settings, then Mail, then click Accounts
- Tap Add Account > Other then click Add Mail Account.
- Type in your name (can be any name), email address, your password with a description for account.
- Click Next. The Mail app will try to find the e-mail settings and finish your account setup. If the Mail app finds your email parameter, tap Done to complete your account setup.
If Mail hasn't been able to find your e-mail parameters, it means that you have to enter them yourself. I think you may find the following table useful:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Setup
Server Hostname | imap.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 993 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Outgoing Mail Server Setup
Server Hostname | smtp.fastmail.com |
Server Port | 587 |
Username | Your username (do not include the part after the @ sign) |
Authentication | Password |
SSL/TLS | Yes |
Tap Next, then follow these steps:
- Choose either IMAP or POP for your new account If you are not sure which one to opt for, contact sent.at
- Type in the details (You may want to take a look at the table above) for Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server. Then tap Next
- If the email settings are correct, tap Save to complete the setup. If the mail settings are incorrect, the Mail app will ask you to modify the configuration.
- In case you still are not able to set up your email account or store your e-mail settings, contact sent.at.
