Configuring Swissonline.ch for your Android Device

With this post I will summarize setting up Swissonline.ch with IMAP and SMTP for your Android Device in an easy to follow way.

Setting up Swissonline.ch:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Incoming Mail Server Settings

  1. Choose the type of e-mail account (POP3 or IMAP) you will be using. Not all services support both protocols. You may want to refer to the table below for the correct parameters.
    • IMAP protocol keeps the mails on the server, but it will show a cached copy on your Android device. IMAP is recommended in most cases.
    • POP3 downloads the mails from the server and it will store them on your Android phone.
  2. Enter the password for the email account and tap Next.
  3. Use the information below to complete the Incoming Server Settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If you see an error, click the Edit Settings button.

Outgoing Mail Settings

  1. Once the parameters are entered, click Next.
  2. Select Require sign-in
  3. Please use the following table in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings.
  4. Click Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.
