Setting up the-fastest.net for your Samsung Galaxy (Android)

Fastmail is an email hosting company based in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to its Fastmail-branded services, the company also operates Topicbox, a mailing list service, and Pobox, an email service it acquired in 2015. The company was acquired by Opera Software in 2010 but became independent again in 2013 through a staff buyout. Its servers are located in Bridgewater, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington. Configuring the-fastest.net:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Settings Required for Receiving Mail

  1. Select the type of e-mail account (either POP3 or IMAP) you will use. Not all services provide both protocols! Please refer to the table below for possible parameters.
    • IMAP will keep the e-mails on the server but it will keep a cached copy on your device. IMAP is recommended for almost all users.
    • POP3 will download the e-mails from the remote server and it will keep them on your Android device.
  2. Type the passphrase for your mail account and click Next.
  3. Please refer to the information below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
  4. Tap Next. If you see an error, tap the Edit Settings button.

Outgoing Mail Server Settings (using SMTP)

  1. Once the parameters are filled in, you can click Next.
  2. Check Require sign-in
  3. Use the following information in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings page.
  4. Click Next. If there is an error, tap Edit Settings.
