Configuring Windstream.net for your Samsung Galaxy (Android)

With this post we will try to summarize how to configure Windstream.net using IMAP and SMTP for an Android Device in a straightforward fashion!

Setting up Windstream.net:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose the type of account you want to add:
    • If you check work or school emails through Outlook for Windows, select Outlook, Hotmail, and Live.
    • If you don't see your email service, select Other.
  5. Enter your email address and tap Next.

Configuration Required for Receiving Email

  1. Choose the type of e-mail account (either POP3 or IMAP) you want to use. Not all services provide both options! Refer to the information below for available settings.
    • IMAP protocol keeps the mails on the server, but it will display a copy on your Android phone. IMAP is recommended for most users.
    • POP3 downloads the mails from the server and it will keep them on your Android phone.
  2. Type in the passphrase for your mail address and click Next.
  3. Use the information below in order to complete the Incoming Server Settings page.
  4. Now click Next. If there is an error, click Edit Settings.

Outgoing Mail Server Configuration (using SMTP)

  1. Once the parameters are entered, you can click Next.
  2. Turn on Require sign-in
  3. Use the table below in order to complete the Outgoing Server Settings.
  4. Now tap Next. If there is an error, tap the Edit Settings button.
